Think Pink Presentation
18 September 2019
Irene Hendel OAM, Director and Patron of Think Pink Foundation and Founder of The Living Centre presented a certificate of appreciation to Bro. Keith Murray, Grand Master, acknowledging the generous support from Freemasons and supporters in the community. Mrs Hendel spoke at the September Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge and commended the longstanding relationship between the Think Pink Foundation and Freemasonry in Victoria.
Almost nine years ago, The Hon. Daniel Andrews MP (then Minister of Health) officially opened The Living Centre, a unique facility offering patients a comprehensive range of practical support services free of charge. Present at that official opening was Bro. Vaughan Werner, Past Grand Master, alongside many Brethren who were present at the Quarterly Communication. The generous benevolence has enabled the provision of services and advice of highly qualified and experienced healthcare professionals and since its inception, The Living Centre has supported over 3,000 women and their families.
Over the last nine years, donations have:
- Provided counselling and personalised advice to 3,000 clients through a Breast Care Nurse and Social Workers
- Provided hundreds of free wigs to women who could not afford them
- Provided many hours of therapeutic massage to patients with lymphoedema
- Facilitated the mobilisation of our unique ‘Supporting Blokes’ program for the partners of breast cancer patients to travel to major centres
