Are you a creative freemason?
Are you creative and can’t resist a design challenge?
Would you like your artwork to be one of the most predominant design features in the new home of Freemasonry; The Eastbourne, in Albert Street, East Melbourne?
Freemasons Victoria is calling on all creative Brethren to take on the challenge and come up with an innovative design that will encapsulate the essence of Freemasonry in one brilliant and captivating image.
The winning design will be crafted into a leadlight, or stained glass window approximately 9m2 that will be incorporated at the top of the winding staircase leading into the new home of Freemasonry.
A standard contract and negotiated fee will be offered to the winning designer to enable them to work with Freemasons Victoria and their appointed craftsmen to bring the image to life.
You will have a blank canvas to work with. The expectation is that submissions must reflect the message ‘Freemasonry'.
We are looking for a design that is creative and original; this is a good opportunity to let your unique personality influence your work. it's all about the theme.
The design will need to be submitted on A3 sized paper, in colour with an accompanying rationale that describes your original creation (100 words or less). A great design should be enlightening and be thought provoking. The final image will be crafted into a leadlight or stained glass window approximately 9 m2 and affixed onto an internal back-lit window. the backlighting will be designed and installed by Freemasons Victoria and a specialist lighting consultant and installer. While it may not affect your design, this is not an external window and there will be no issues with wind loads or external weather conditions.
The window will be installed adjacent to the winding staircase on the second level.
Closing date for art work will be the close of business on 15 July 2018, with the artist appointed by 1 August 2018.
