About The Lodge
The Lodge was consecrated on 24 October 2009 and formed by amalgamation of Zenith Lodge No. 52, Eaglehawk Lodge No. 55 and Sandhurst Lodge No. 194. Named after Sir John Quick, a founding father of Australian Federation, a Bendigo Freemason and citizen.
The new Lodge was named after ‘Sir John Quick Lodge' because John Quick was a member of Zenith Lodge No. 52 and its Master in 1899 and an eminent citizen of Bendigo. He was honoured by the citizens of Bendigo by a bronze bust statue erected in the Victoria Gardens in Pall Mall, Bendigo after his death. He rose from humble beginnings to become a lawyer, statesman and judge, who played an instrumental role in the Federation of Australia and was knighted for his work to this purpose. He was a dedicated Freemason who rose to the rank of Deputy Grand master in 1914.
His achievements in public life were extraordinary and too long to mention in this short introduction. The Freemasons of Zenith, Eaglehawk and Sandhurst Lodge were very proud to honour his life by naming the new Lodge after him. He is an example of what we all hope to emulate in our lives.
