Lodge of Progress and Freemasonry benefiting the CFA
Newly formed Lodge of Progress continues to make an impact in the local South East community with a $5,000 grant from the Freemasons Foundation, given to the Narre Warren Fire Brigade, catering unit. The catering unit is a charitable entity of the Narre Warren CFA, that is primarily concerned with feeding emergency services personnel at significant emergencies.
The unit is on call 24/7 to respond to calls to feed hungry emergency workers. They travel significant distances at all times of the day and night. The unit is completely voluntary and self-funded. Costs of food prepared is covered by the local CFA District, however the vehicle, feeding trailer, fridges, stoves, BBQs, tables are all fund raised by the brigade.
The Lodge of Progress application to the Foundation was accepted without hesitation and at the May meeting of the Lodge, several members of the CFA attended to receive the cheque from the Lodge members and partners. After the presentation, the CFA members joined in the festivities of the Lodges festive board at one of the local restaurants in Berwick.
The Lodge of Progress is a dining Lodge meeting at the Berwick Masonic centre on the 3rd Friday of the odd month. The Lodge tyles at 7pm. At every regular Lodge meeting basic business is conducted with the Lodge retiring within a short time, where we then join our partners at a restaurant. Degree works are usually conducted at an emergency meeting in the off month. The Lodge also travels once a year to an iconic country location with our partners and family.
