On Thursday 4 January 2019 when the mercury nearly topped 40 degrees, the Sturt-Buninyong United Lodge No. 23 Masonic Committee attracted strong interest for the Annual Fruit Sale and raised over $4,000 for charity.

An industrious group of young people assisting with the packing process while gaining an insight into volunteering for a charitable cause.

Three tonnes of bulk apricots and nectarines brought in from Ardmona the previous day were repacked into 5kg boxes over three hours that afternoon by a team of 21 members and friends of Freemasonry.

Interest continues to strengthen in the sale as more names are added to the client list for pre-sales prior to each Christmas.

These fruit sales have continued for over 50 years with all proceeds supporting a range of charitable needs within the Buninyong and wider Ballarat district.

The No. 23 committee is a regular applicant to the Freemasons Foundation for co-contribution assistance to enhance its charity projects.

A hive of industry as the fruit is sorted and weighed ready for sale the next day
