Charles Wheeler PGH - 50 Years of Service to Holy Royal Arch Masonry
It was a momentous occasion on Fathers Day 2018 for the Wheeler family. The patriarch was being presented with a 50 year jewel for his services to Holy Royal Arch Freemasonry, but there was another honour to be bestowed.
Charles William George Wheeler’s Masonic history is impressive and shows the dedication he showed to Freemasonry over his involvement.
Charles was initiated in November 1963, passed in February 1964 and raised in March 1964. He was then installed in his Mother Lodge in 1974. In 1992, he was the Grand Sword Bearer in the UGLV Ceremonial Team and was also appointed as Grand Registrar from 1998 to 2000 inclusive, for UGLV. He attained the conferred Grand Rank of PSGW in 2009.
Charles was also installed as Worshipful Master in a Mark Lodge in 2001.
HRAC though was the main thrust of the presentation made on Fathers Day 2018. Charles has achieved and contributed greatly to Supreme Grand Chapter of Victoria. He was exalted in the Supreme Degree in May 1968 and installed as First Principal in September 1980.
He was an Active Ceremonial Team for Supreme Grand Chapter of Victoria in 3 different teams.
- Grand Standard Bearer in 1990 for David Paroissien PGZ
- Grand Registrar in 1996, for Bernard Charles Rees PGZ
- Grand Registrar in 2012 to 2015 inclusive serving John Blythman PGZ and Graeme O’Donnell PGZ in their tenures as First Grand Principal.
Also he served as the Grand Representative for Germany for over two decades as well as being a member of Supreme Committee for three years.
Graeme O’Donnell presented our worthy Brother and Companion with his 50 year certificate, letter and jewel which must have been a highlight to Charles.
John Blythman presented Charles with a Supreme Grand Chapter of Victoria letter of promotion signed by the Grand Scribe Ezra, and approved by the First Grand Principal after the jewel presentation.
John Blythman PGZ, initiated this promotion at Supreme Grand Chapter of Victoria as he believed that the meritorious service to Holy Royal Arch Masonry needed to be recognized and rewarded and it was fitting, that amongst his Companions he was offered the rank of Past Grand Haggai.
A fitting day for a Brother and Companion who has contributed to UGLV, UGLMMMV and SGCV.
